Hi Kids! I'm Dollar the Dragon. Want to have some fun? Just visit my website where there's games and activities. I'll tell you how money was invented, and you can also learn all about checks, savings accounts and ATM machines. Oh yes, and one more thing. If you want to SAVE some money for a special occasion, ask you parents to open your own Savings Account.

DOLLAR THE DRAGON SCHOOL SAVINGS PROGRAM

Our Dollar the Dragon School Savings Program is up and running. Once a week, before school, we go to the elementary schools in the Wadena-Deer Creek school district and students in grades 3 thru 6 make savings account deposits. The program has been very successful and is enjoyed by all the student participants.

This is an excellent learning tool and helps students with their math skills including:

  • Coin Recognition and value
  • Practical use of their addition skills
  • Savings account and interest education
    • To join the program, parents simply complete an enrollment form. Forms are available on banking day at the school or directly from the bank.

    When a child enrolls they receive:
    • Initial deposit of $1.00 courtesy of Mid-Central
    • Mid-central Piggy Bank with 4 quarters in it
    • Money pouch to bring their weekly deposits in
    • Prize each time they make a deposit
    There is no minimun deposit amount. Withdrawals can only be made at the bank and the child must be accompanied by a parent. We are looking to expand this innovative program to the communities of our branch offices in Staples and Long Prairie. Please contact us if you are interested in participating in this program.
